The Academy of Tease is a burlesque centered learning establishment open to all ages, gender and abilities (Must be at least 18 years of age to sign-up for Burlesque Classes, no age limit for Dance Classes. Anyone under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
Classes are held at The ARTSmith on the Second Floor of the Mendonca Building on Smith Street in Chinatown or The ARTS at Marks Garage on Nuuanu Avenue in Chinatown. Please check class schedule for location of classes.
ALL Burly-Q & Dance CLASSES: Please wear comfortable close-fitting clothes you can move in. Bring a towel, water, flats with heel strap (won't slip off foot) & a pair of heels with heel strap (won't slip off foot and heel no higher than 3") & Dance or character shoes preferred. No slippers. Males, please contact us for further details. Additional supplies are listed under class description. There is never any nudity. Students are encouraged to honor their own comfort levels and limits. Designed to teach the basics of burlesque performance including: increasing grace, balance, hip movements, shoulder movements, prop use, glove peels, sexy walks, stage presence, and tips on how to create your own choreography! Feel free to drop-in even if you missed a class!
Burly-Q Fusion
Tease and Tone! Designed to teach you how to incorporate burlesque with various styles of dance. Heavy dance, cardio based series that focuses on choreography.

*You may use class cards for Academy of Tease classes held at The ARTSmith or The ARTS at Marks Garage only. Class cards do not apply toward Special Workshops or classes held at other dance studios. Each block on class card equivalent to 1 hour class time.
*Starting June 1, 2011 all class cards purchased will expire 6 months after issue date. Classes are listed for 3-months at a time. Day of classes may or may not change every 3 months.
*Series and/or Class Cards must be paid for in cash on first day of class or drop-in class fees will apply.

This class is for performers or soon to be performers who wish to add depth and variety to their performances. Covering facial expressions, crowd interaction, pre-show tips, entrances, body poses, costume tips and help putting a complete act together. Please bring your music, costume inspiration and any ideas for an act you have.

Learn how to live in the moment while "feeling" the music and work on facial expressions that convey exactly what you are trying to say! This class covers crowd interaction, body poses and more. Please bring music you are comfortable moving to.
