Lil MissFortune believes that a moment not spent dancing, (preferably in a fabulous costume), is a moment ill spent. This belief was expressed as far back as age three, when she would entertain her family by dancing around the living room with a purse on her head. Her parents wisely enrolled her in tap dancing classes, and from that time forth she has taken every opportunity to express herself creatively. To that effect, she has taken any class she could in the performing arts, from acting and voice, to costume design and stage makeup. Furthermore, the initial impetus to dance has been pursued through instruction in a myriad of movement styles, such as ballet, jazz, modern dance, street dance, belly dancing, Balinese Kechak, and Butoh; as well as yoga, stage-combat, Tai chi, and Jingju movement. In her pursuit of a B.A. in Theatre UH Manoa, she was involved in 21 departmental productions, including six main stage performances. In addition, she has participated in off-campus productions as a dancer, choreographer, and actor, including performance of the one woman show- World without End. She has also appeared as an actor in student and independent films, and on the Augie T Show, as well as an extra on Byrds of Paradise and the upcoming major motion picture Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Her obsession with costume has led to an overstuffed costume closet and the drive to make her own costumes. She can now be seen performing with Cherry Blossom Cabaret, hopefully with something more fabulous than a purse on her head.
